HANC Co-Sponsors Mayoral Candidates Forum

HANC has agreed to be a co-sponsor of a Senior and Disability Mayoral Candidate Forum and Reception, which will take place on Thursday, April 12, from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 1187 Franklin Street. The main sponsor is CARA (California Association of Retired Americans). We have a list of organizations that were also asked to co-sponsor this event, but we do not yet know which other organizations have agreed to do so.

The format for this event is different than other Mayoral debates and forums, and should offer participants an opportunity to ask the candidates questions on a one-to-one basis. Here is the tentative schedule:

1:00    Overview and Opening Comments – Why the Senior and Disability Vote Matters

1:30    Candidate Forum – Each candidate to be given 7 to 10 minutes to share why they are running for office and their goals and vision for San Francisco, and to answer specific questions.

2:30    Candidate Reception – Instead of the usual Q & A, each candidate will be assigned to a particular part of the room where participants can talk with each candidate personally about issues important to the participant.

Other Mayoral debates and forums have already occurred and are planned for the future. Here is a list of other debates and forums, with location and sponsors (note that not all candidates were or will be at every event):
