Park Police Station has a new Captain, as of the end of July. We invited her to our September meeting, but she had a prior commitment. She will introduce herself to the HANC community at our October meeting. Meantime, she sent us this message:
I’m Angela Wilhelm, Captain at Park Station, and I appreciate the opportunity send an update to the Haight Ashbury Neighborhood Council.
At Park Station, we remain committed to fostering a safe and welcoming environment for all residents and visitors. Over the past month, we’ve increased foot patrols in key corridors, strengthened partnerships with local organizations, and focused on addressing quality-of-life concerns such as traffic safety, homelessness, and working with our City partners on public space maintenance.
One issue we continue to see is garage burglaries. I want to take a moment to share a few garage security tips that could help reduce these incidents:
- Always close and lock your garage door, even if you're stepping away for just a few minutes.
- Install motion-sensor lighting around your garage and driveway.
- Use a deadbolt or smart lock on the door between your garage and home.
- Avoid leaving garage door openers in your car, especially if your car is parked outside.
- Consider a garage door sensor or camera system that alerts you when the door is opened unexpectedly.
- Keep valuables out of sight—bikes, tools, and electronics are common targets.
We’re continuing to monitor trends and deploy resources where they’re most needed. Your feedback and vigilance are essential in helping us stay ahead of these issues.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and answering any questions you may have.
Thank you.
Angela.
